She has held academic roles at the University of South Wales, where she is now Emeritus Professor, and is also an Honorary Professor at Cardiff University. In 2012, she co-founded Do-IT Solutions, a technology company focused on supporting neurodivergent individuals through screening tools, training and consultancy. Professor Kirby has written extensively on neurodiversity, including books and research publications, and has worked with organisations across education, health and employment.
